Dukuza Museum

 

Situated in KwaDukuza/ Stanger - King Shaka Street. Open 08h30 – 12h00. Closed on week-ends. Guided tours by arrangement. The focus is on the Zulu empire, sugar-cane industry and the Indian culture.

 

King Shaka Memorial

 

Situated in KwaDukuza/ Stanger- King Shaka Street. Open daily from 08h30 – 16h00. This is King Shaka’s grave-site. A 20-minute slide show about the history of King Shaka can be viewed by arrangement.

 

Chief Albert Luthuli Grave Site & Museum

 

Situated in Groutville. This is the grave-site and original home-stead of Nobel Peace Prize Winner.

 

Fort Pearson & The Ultimatum Tree

 

Situated on the banks of the Tugela River at Harold Johnson Nature Reserve. Both of these national monuments played a significant role in the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879.

 

Morewood Memorial Gardens

 

Situated at Compensation on the Esenembi Rd. This is the site of South Africa’s first Sugar Mill. A memorial has been erected on the site to commemorate the life of Sir Edmund Morewood, who grew the first commercial sugar cane in South Africa and was the founder of the Sugar Cane Industry in SA.
